Golf. My dad has played this game for years. When Burlin and I were first married, Burlin thought he would try to learn the game so he could spend time with my dad. My dad even graciously paid for us to take a few lessons at a local golf course. However, Burlin really did not enjoy the game, and he decided he could spend time with my dad in other ways!
Fast forward twenty years: Burlin is politely told by the upper administration at the hospital that he will play golf in a tournament! It did not matter that Burlin did not play golf, nor that he did not particularly care for the sport. He borrowed a set of clubs from a friend, and began to practice hitting balls at the local driving range!
The tournament has come and gone. Yes, he will most likely have to play again in future tournaments with the hospital. But a funny thing happened along the way. He was "bit" by the "bug"! He seems to enjoy the game a bit more, and even Ben has developed an interest! Burlin bought a set of used left handed clubs on Craig's List, and we found Ben some clubs in the paper (though it is not a complete set.) They are now armed, and dangerous!
Ben has also made a "putting green" in the back yard! Of course, we now have a broken barn window.............maybe practice should be limited to the driving range for now on!

Great post! Loved the photos . . . but I admit that it seems weird to see Burlin with a golf club in his hand! I expect to see him with a fishing rod, a bow, or a hunting rifle! :) And have you ever wondered why that golf stance looks so awkward????? LOL!
