Friday night we had soccer and volleyball games at Washington Courthouse. We have never been there before, and we were surprised to learn it is near Cedarville! There wasn't enough time to stop at Clifton, John Bryant, or even drive through the campus of Cedarville University, but it was neat to look at the changes as we drove through "downtown Cedarville"! Anna chose to ride with us to the games, so she had to endure all the walks down "memory lane"!! (Fortunately for her, they were not literal walks, but only verbal!)
The church where the game was played had a beautiful entrance.....marble floors, stenciled verses on the walls, huge blooming mums, and an inviting couch all caught my eyes. I wish I had thought to take a picture!
There is no gym...so believe it or not they play their games in a sanctuary...must be designed at this time as a "multi purpose" room! There are lines for volleyball, basketball, and Awanas....and it is carpeted. (Obviously, no indoor concessions there.)
Both the jh and jv teams won! With the conclusion of the volleyball games, it was outside to watch soccer! The varsity soccer team already won, but we still had the "little guys" to cheer for.
Did I mention that it was a little cold that night?? It was around 40 degrees with accompanying wind and rain......what better way to play right? A little rough on those watching though. Thankfully, the predicted snow showers didn't happen! Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures of the guys playing, but the girls did take some pictures of each other!

These were Anna's favorite pictures of the night.........
The guy that "never gets cold".........looks a little on the chilly side I would say!
On the way home we stopped at Young's for dinner and ice cream..............as we called it at "the 'ville", we made a "Young's run"!! The place has really grown since our days there! It was extremely busy with other schools celebrating their games, but it was very good. All their ice cream is homemade, but I am sorry to say that it wasn't as good as the Creamery in Delphos!! But, it was fun showing Anna one of our "old college hangouts".
Ok you win! Looks like you were colder at your games than we were at the football game on Friday night! ;)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the picture of Burlin!
