God is so good! We just returned from picking up Amber from NBBC in Wisconsin. I remember when we dropped her off in August, a bit scared and "teary eyed". To her defense, she had a very emotional summer in regards to her next steps with college - wavering from attending NBBC, to attending EI in Greenville, to staying at home for a year. Burlin loves the vision and focus of NBBC, and really wanted her to attend- even if she could only make it one semester. Well, not only did she make it through the entire year, she absolutely loves it there! She never once complained about living in the middle of "nowhere" or the subzero temperatures. It was really a perfect "fit" for her, and it was evident she was where God would have her to be. In fact, she was so content there - and busy with both work and school, that we often would go a week or more without hearing from her! God continues to show that He does "exceedingly beyond that which we ask or think"! She is excited to return in the fall, and we are trusting that God will make provision to that end!

We (Burlin, Anna, Rebecca ) drove up to Wisconsin on Friday. Amber wanted us to attend the Spring Banquet, but it was "tight" time wise. We ended up just letting Anna attend the concert and spend some "alone" time with her sister for a few hours, and then went back to the motel for the night in Iron Mtn., Michigan.

One of my favorite "towns" we go through is Niagara, Wisconsin. It is a small, mining town -iron ore.
It was a very long trip, but it is so beautiful in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I love how lake Michigan follows much of the highway along the "u.p." Since we had "time constraints" on the way up, we did a little "sight-seeing" on the way home. We stopped at Manistique, Mi - this is a beautiful walk out to a lighthouse (but extremely cold and windy); this made a great "photo-op" for Anna-though the cold made it difficult to enjoy.
While Burlin drove, I tried to take some pictures as we were crossing the Mackinaw Bridge! It is so beautiful! The bridge is 5 miles long, and due to construction was only 2-lane.......but not nearly as scary as the old Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, S.C.!
Well, I can't believe Amber's first year at college is over! I am so thankful God not only provided the "funds" for her to attend, but that He gave her the grace, strength, and mercy to press on in "unfamiliar territory"! It is also exciting to see Amber "work out" her own salvation as well, and watch God's working in her heart and life! I look forward to her being home for the summer, and then Lord willing return to NBBC in the fall!
I enjoyed this post. Amber has obviously grown up into a beautiful woman! She looks older, more mature, more confident, more beautiful, and quite a bit like her mama! :)
