Butterflies.......

It started with Abigail many years ago......a love of butterflies!! My children love to catch caterpillars, and watch them miraculously turn into butterflies.

Recently, Grandma Sherrick collected a monarch caterpillar for us (she knows about this "passion"). Within a few days it spun its cocoon. Then, in about a week (I think) it "hatched"! Audrey was sooooo excited! She could hardly wait for the wings to "dry" so she could hold it.

We let her keep it "loose" in the house for a couple of days. She even cut up fruit for it to eat. She kept it in her room at night, and was very "protective" of it during the day. But, unfortunately, butterflies don't do well in "confined spaces", so she had to let it go! (We put the cats up first so they wouldn't kill it.)

It stayed close by for a while, but later we watched it fly away!
